Well, no, probably not (although that abandoned island off the coast of Japan seems way cool, and as if people ought to have moved in).  But &#8230; these places are evocative, somehow, in a way that the pretty places are not.<\/p>\n<p class=Indent>Why take pictures of just &#8220;the beautiful?&#8221;  Why ignore what is all around us: the gritty, the lost, the abandoned, the forgotten?<\/p>\n<p class=Indent>True, I&#8217;m guilty of it: I have taken <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/wishiwerebaking\/sets\/72157600241195269\/\" target=_blank>860 pictures of flowers, alone<\/a>!  Yet, I&#8217;ve also taken <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/wishiwerebaking\/sets\/72157608308144856\/\" target=_blank>95 pictures of &#8220;abandoned furniture,&#8221;<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/wishiwerebaking\/sets\/72157605165293305\/\" target=_blank>302 pictures of &#8220;what in the world?&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=Indent>The flowers, though, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/wishiwerebaking\/collections\/72157621420281313\/\" target=_blank>the castles<\/a>, and whatever else, seem to overwhelm things, giving an imbalanced picture of the world.<\/p>\n<p class=Indent>Thoughts?<\/p>\n<p class=Indent><i>-D<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is more just a call for you all to go look at a page: Abandoned Places In The World.
