They&#8217;ve put out a travel guide which has a few interesting things to say, and their <i>36 Hours<\/i> feature this weekend was all about Glasgow. The first thing to strike us was that they advocate going to the Barrows Market.  Umm.  Right. They didn&#8217;t check with the City Councilor from that area who calls it a &#8220;crime-ridden midden,&#8221; I guess.  Next, they say, &#8220;Given the grid system, anyone with a map would be hard-pressed to get completely lost.&#8221;  We wish THAT was true! But anyone who&#8217;s gotten directions from a Scottish person, &#8220;Oh, aye, we know where that is! Just a five minute walk and it&#8217;s the first left!&#8221; &#8212; knows that you&#8217;ll be walking for a half hour before you reach your destination and if you&#8217;re lucky the &#8220;first left&#8221; is broadly marked, and isn&#8217;t one of the many alleys that wander off of the main road. No, the NY Times has never been to Glasgow, UK.
