End of Cheese

Well, folks, the time has come. We’ve been gradually eliminating animal products from our diet. Butter went by the wayside a long time ago, followed by milk and eggs. Those were the easy ones. Now … now, it’s time to eliminate yogurt and cheese. Of the two, cheese is the more troublesome, because we just can’t seem to get enough of it. And that’s the problem.

We may end up having cheese when we eat out (which is not very often at all), as we sometimes have an egg, or use butter. Or, yes, sometimes I’ll have fish, particularly sushi or smoked fish, but this is on the order of once or twice a year (and I usually pay for it later, because my system has generally decided that I don’t eat that kind of thing, and doesn’t digest it very well).

We’ll see how it goes.

  1. Hurrah! I’m so happy for you guys! It’s hard at first, but eventually the thought of cheese/butter/eggs/yogurt won’t even seem tasty. At least your cheese had a pretty way to go!

  2. Hey, kudos if it’s what you really want! I’m not a cheese person myself so when I became intolerant it didn’t really matter, but I know for some it’s like a death sentence!

Yay for sushi though, it’s always a treat!

  3. When I gave up all dairy during pregnancy of last kid, cheese was the thing I missed most. Turned out that my son had the dairy allergy, and I nursed him a long time, so eventually I was back with dairy, but didn’t crave it all that much and still keep it to a minimum. You two are great with finding the ways to eat in a way you body appreciates, sans eggs, butter, cheese, milk, etc. Maybe I should pretend I’m pregnant again (oh no!) because I’ll eat in a healthier way.
