After months and months of repairs to the outside of this sandstone, we can finally see the front door! This building is just down the block. For the first time since we moved into this flat – indeed, for the first time since we came to Glasgow and walked by this flat to get to the library – the front door is visible. You know what, though? They didn’t bother to clean the tiles, and the door is all spattered with mud. Sigh.
If you look closely you’ll see the Royal Mail truck in the road. It’s one of the truly strange things about the UK; at least, to us, it’s strange. Red mailboxes? Red postal vans? Among the strangenesses is that the guy who comes to deliver your mail won’t accept mail. Yup – you must take your mail to a post office, or drop it into a box. We’ll give them this, though: there are post office boxes all over the place.
Be sure to check out the rest of the folks over at Work Of The Poet.
Interesting about the mail and I love the red door. Maybe they will have a clean up soon.
Wow! I love that door! Great shot. You’ve got an interesting blog. Good luck with all your projects!
Me, too: I love the door. Also I think that the red mail truck and mail box color is VERY interesting. Funny they won’t take mail from you. 😉

Huh? Postmen in the US take mail?
So strange? LOL
Heh neat… I love the door even if there is mud.
We can’t give our postpeople mail either, not sure if it is a city thing or what though.
Those are both great photos for Ruby Tuesday! That door is stunning.
Loving that bright red door — and yes I think the red mail thing is odd. Great gloomy photo w/ the church steeple. Need to go visit flickr to get my UK fix.
What a great door. Love all the red you have where you live.
