Out of Service

Lynedoch Crescent D 183

Just a brief note: my laptop is dead, due to a manufacturing defect. It will be off to HP for a couple of weeks, leaving me scrounging time on T’s laptop, or at school, or at work. So, there won’t be much going on here (not that there has been anyway, really).

Much playing of chess, and reading actual books, is in my immediate future.

This week is week zero, at Glasgow University: Fresher’s Week. To get a feel for what it’s like to go up there (as I’ve had to do, giving campus tours, meeting with my supervisors), check out this video clip and this video clip. I shot both of them yesterday, which was rather a calmer day than Monday, but still raucous enough to get the idea. They’re high-definition, so be sure to click the “full-screen” button. They’re also rather loud, so make sure your volume is adjusted low to start with.

  1. Hey D,
watched the video you posted and hope things quiet down at Glasgow Uni as things get going into the normal routine. sorry to hear about your laptop, i am attached to my HP and it's still "new" so hopefully it will go awhile longer without any problems!
    Cheers,
    Danielle

P.S. In Oban this morning, I passed the Kebabish Curry House, next to Cancer Research UK, and thought about your blog post about it. Made me chuckle 🙂

  2. Hmmm… The video clips didn't work for me. I'll have to try them again some other time.

Well, you KNOW that I KNOW how it feels not to have a laptop. My new laptop finally arrived. However, it isn't quite set up yet. Don't ask.

Anywho, I hope they're able to your laptop and return it back to you ASAP. In the meantime, have fun with the books, playing chess, etc… etc… etc…

Paz (who has The King and I soundtrack running in her mind) 😉
