The Year In Pictures

For those who don’t know, we maintain a Photography Site. It contains, right now, around 12,500 pictures of ours. Since we’ve moved to Scotland we’ve posted more than 9,000 pictures, with more than 8,000 pictures during 2008 alone. You might not be able to see all of them because we like to keep a bit of control over who sees pictures with people in them (more on that later), but you’ll certainly be able to see quite a lot of what our lives are like, over there, or … at least you’ll be able to see where we’ve been and some of what we thought was interesting.

Our Collections offer an easy way to browse through the pictures, with subsets within each larger grouping which will give you a way to, for example, not look at the 574 pictures of flowers, or the 286 pictures of yeast breads (unless you want to, of course).

On the Flickr site you can view slideshows of the sets, can add comments, add notes and tags (like, say, if you wanted to point out that these little starlings were at Ikea, and that they are starlings), and can just generally get into our lives a bit more. Every time somebody leaves a comment or something, we get to see that and comment back, and we get to know that you’re out there, listening, enjoying some of what we’re sharing.

Also, on the Flickr site, if you’re somebody we know … you are cordially invited to get your free Flickr account, so that we can add you to our contacts! Why? Well, so that we can let you see pictures with US in them! We don’t generally publish pictures of ourselves, or of any other people, because the idea of having random people looking at high-resolution pictures of us and our friends is just kind of creepy. But we’re more than happy to open the doors to you if you’re a friend of ours; you have to take the initiative, though (unless you’re one of the few whose houses we’ve been to, forcing you to activate your free account, and who have consequently forgotten your logins – we can’t really help you lot).
