We’ve seen them several times, but D. was fortunate enough to catch them in action from inside the building: absailers who wash windows! Yep – these guys go up to the top of the building, tie in, throw down some ropes … and jump. They carry a bucket, a rag, and a squeegee, plus a couple of powerful suction cups, to help anchor them in place when they’ve run across the windows to the furthest extent of their rope. They then proceed to clean the windows.
Everyone says, “well, it’s more efficient than those platforms, and they’d have to build those into the building. There’s a building downtown that did that, but only the one. Everybody else uses these guys.”
Just imagine, though, hearing a squeeking noise, and turning around to see some guy dangling outside the window with a rag. Too truly bizarre!
