Well, it happened just about this time last year: the rain has returned. You can even see a tinge of yellow in the leaves on the trees. Impending autumn. It’s just been in fits and starts – a shower here, a downpour there – but it feels like the Glasgow we’ve come to know, these past 2 years. Yes, indeed, people: we’ve been in Glasgow coming up on 2 years. 2 more to go. This time, 2 years ago, we had already packed our things and shipped them over here, and we still had no idea where we would live, what to expect, how we would manage, nor did we know how dark and rainy Scotland can be.
Today … today we know how dark and rainy (and windy and cold) Glasgow can be, but we feel better prepared than ever. We haven’t weather-sealed the windows yet, but we have the appropriate caulk. D. doesn’t have his oilcloth jacket yet, but T. has hers, and D’s will be coming just as soon as our friend gets back with our shipment from the U.S.. We have the full-spectrum lightbulbs, plans to buy more lamps, and know how to light the gas fire by hand, in case the power goes out. Yes, folks: it’s getting cold, but we’re ready. Check back in 4 months and you’ll hear renewed whimpering and whining, we’re sure. But for now, bring on the rain.

Getting cold already? Truth be told I prefer the colder weather than the warm. I'm looking forward to Fall. Today was too hot — in the 90s. Felt hotter. It rained here, too.
