If you ever end up going through Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport, try to spot the rabbits. T. noticed that they were all over the place, hiding in the newly-mown grass. It was quite funny, little (and not so little) bunnies, hopping along, or hiding. D. wondered whether someone was farming them there, maybe. Who knows.
Taxiing into the Rome airport, we noticed something a bit odd: hay-bales, the big, round kind. We guess that it’s a smart use of the space, but seems a bit odd. Is it a normal, everyday kind of thing, to grow hay at airports?
Sitting in the airport in Rome, waiting for our flight to Verona, we noticed that every boarding ramp had a pair of metal slides outside of them. Our friend Lori asks whether they’re emergency escapes (our thought) or baggage chutes. It’s truly a good question … and we really don’t have any idea! The thought of sliding down a metal chute, though, conjures up memories of childhood, sliding down the metal slides … which were inevitably quite hot, in the sunshine. So … we’ll just call them baggage chutes – possibly for all that luggage which gets rejected as carry-on right at the gate, or for kiddie strollers / prams.
