Gie uz a picture, then!

One of the more unique aspects of being in Scotland has been the realization that people want their pictures taken. Not people we know – no, those people actively resist having their pictures taken. No, these are just random people who, upon seeing D. carrying the camera, usually say something along the lines of “gie uz a picture then.” They don’t want to see the picture after it’s been taken; they just want D. to take their picture. He offers to show them the picture, but more often than not they just keep on walking, having stopped long enough to strike a pose.

So, here you are, my young, addled, Scottish friends. You are forever immortalized.

  1. This is great! I find this behavior true as well. I’ll be taking pictures of some building and strangers encourage me to take a picture of them as well.

  2. I think it’s cool that people don’t mind their photo taken. In my neck of the woods, I could get beat up for taking someone’s pic. 😉 No posing for me.
